In a desert environment, wind and sun are detrimental factors for most kinds of agriculture. the sun heats the greenhouses up so they need cooling and the wind dries out and further heats the land making water management even more challenging than it originally is.
Al Nahl seeks to use wind power generators and solar panels not only to produce green electricity but also to provide shade and to exploit the lee side of the wind turbines for land upgrading. Those side-kicks are usually negative side effects of such technologies but used the right way those side effects can provide the basis for life to many plants and animals that would otherwise find the prevailing conditions punishing.
And while we are at it, we would put the power to good use and even create back up for low wind and no sun times.
